LEMKEN Koralin 9 hybrid cultivator„

Agriculture is a field that is constantly changing and where one always needs to adapt to new challenges. In recent years, prevailing
Droughts have impacted the soil and water is becoming an increasingly important resource, making it even more crucial to discover new sustainable farming alternatives and solutions. The new LEMKEN Koralin 9 hybrid cultivator protects the soil from erosion and increases its water retention capacity. This hybrid cultivator combines the advantages of disc and tine cultivators and is perfectly suited for ultra-shallow cultivation across the entire working width. This protects the soil and allows you to expect optimal results from your work.

Growing catch crops revitalises the soil and effectively reduces soil erosion caused by water and wind, particularly in areas prone to erosion. Surface, full-width tillage with the hybrid cultivator „Koralin 9“ reliably cuts back catch crops in spring. The majority of moisture is retained in the soil as it is no longer taken up by the plant from the soil afterwards.

Immediately after harvesting, it is the perfect time to prepare the soil so that other crops can grow optimally. The „Koralin 9“ cuts the stubble both vertically and horizontally across the entire working width to facilitate rapid decomposition. At the same time, it incorporates the harvest residues very shallowly.

„The “Koralin 9" is also excellently suited for stubble cultivation with a second pass. Self-sown plants and oilseed rape that have grown up are cut at a shallow depth and evenly distributed in the soil to facilitate optimal decomposition. The rear harrows bring finer roots to the surface. This causes self-sown plants, oilseed rape, and weeds to dry out and be effectively destroyed. The risk of clogging is reduced due to the intelligent arrangement of the soil-engaging elements working horizontally and vertically. The front discs facilitate the penetration of the tines into the soil, thereby reducing the tractor's tractive power requirements.

Disc section. The two rows of concave discs on the „Heliodor“ have proven themselves in thousands of fields. The sections with vertically working front discs cut organic matter and soil so that the „DeltaCut“ tines behind them reliably penetrate the soil even under difficult dry conditions. The 510 mm discs create a coarse soil profile so that the action of the tines does not form a hard layer.

Sofa section. The interaction between discs and tines is an excellent example of symbiosis. The horizontally acting tines cut rhizomatous weeds and growing plants at a shallow depth and loosen the soil very gently. This not only eliminates capillary action but also protects water balance long-term. Due to stable cross-wise adjustment of the tines, such a result is achieved across the entire working width, even on slopes.

Precise interaction. The operation of the discs and tines must be optimally coordinated to prevent clogging of the implement. One disc operates directly in front of the corresponding tine point, and two discs operate in front of the tine wings.

Precision in depth. The working depth of the tines is regulated hydraulically with „DeltaCut“. This requires a double-acting valve. The hydraulic cylinders of the front depth control wheels, the chassis wheels, and the side support wheels are connected as a master/slave system, which allows the tines to be adjusted parallel to the ground. The side sections can be steered up or down to precisely regulate the depth even on uneven terrain. As the depth is regulated via the wheels, the implement can also be used without a roller.

Pneumatic braking system. „The “Koralin 9" trailer is equipped with a pneumatic brake system to dampen its axle load. A durable BPW axle with spring brake actuators is used. The brake is released using a button located above the transport wheel on the left side in the direction of travel.

Water balance is maintained

  • When growing cover crops in spring, the soil is prepared for the main crops sown later. Despite this, cover crops draw a lot of water from the soil, so they must be destroyed across the entire field. Due to superficial stubble cultivation, the hybrid cultivator „Koralin 9“ preserves capillary water, thus protecting the moisture in the soil.
  • After the grain harvest, the soil loses a lot of water due to the remaining stubble. The „Koralin 9“ undercuts the stubble at a shallow depth and creates ideal conditions for self-seeding plants to grow. The stubble no longer draws water from the soil and forms a cover across the entire field, protecting the soil from erosion.
  • „Koralin 9“ continues to help maintain soil moisture balance during the second stubble cultivation. Self-sown plants and weeds are reliably destroyed after harrowing, and soil capillaries are cut off at the soil surface to prevent their emergence.
