We are proud of the people of Rokiškis – in one day, we collected over 12 tonnes of medicines and non-perishable food! All of this will soon be heading to Ukraine. This is a joint effort by 7 companies and the residents of Rokiškis.
The initiative was taken by Gabija Tarvydytė, daughter of the CEO of „Ivabaltė“, who has temporarily returned to Lithuania from London. Yesterday, she posted an invitation on her personal Facebook page to contribute and began communicating with companies operating in the Rokiškis region.
Very quickly, not only companies but also the residents of Rokiškis joined the initiative. Donations were collected until lunch today, with contributions from „Rokiškio sūris“ (3 tonnes of products), „Biorina“ (1 tonne of buckwheat), A. Tamošiūnas„ company (a pallet of medical supplies), and Pranas Blažis bakery. A significant contribution also came from “Lamikara" – 10 pallets of water, as the areas where the aid will be sent have had their water pipelines destroyed, leaving people without drinking water.
Everything will travel to Ukraine by the transport of the companies „Ivabaltė“ and „Rokiškio sūris“. At the Polish-Ukrainian border, the support will be picked up by Ukrainians, with whom contacts have also been made for targeted assistance.
We are very grateful not only to the companies and the people of Rokiškis who provided support, but also to Kristina Bernackienė, Modestas Bernackas, Nataša Mickevičienė and Ramunė Cegelskaitė-Spaitė for helping to collect the support. We had to work with only a few hours of rest overnight.
But that's nothing compared to the horror experienced by Ukrainians. However, they will win, we have no doubt about it!
