UAB „Ivabaltė“ is not changing its principles: quality has triumphed in the essay competition „We're Clearing Winter from the Yard“. Journalist Vilija Mockuvienė has won first place and an advertising slot worth 5,000 Litas for the newspaper „Kėdainių mugė“. Her article, „Fendt's Might Obeys Both Experienced Farmers and Twenty-Year-Old Students,“ was unanimously recognised by the competition committee as the best.
Professionalism
Journalist V. Mockuvienė's article not only met the competition requirements but also impressed with the effort to interview as many speakers as possible who could describe the company's activities, the technical parameters of the „Fendt 6335 C“ combine, its market uniqueness, and its efficiency in grain fields. The journalist's professionalism protected the author of the article from the temptation to take the easiest route and rely solely on a press release. V. Mockuvienė's attention to language and sentence accuracy was also appreciated.
Impeccable illustrations and those for the „Kėdainiai Fair“. The good mood of the essay was also created by a photograph found by the author in the newspaper archive. It features a „Fendt“ tractor, which in 2008 Kėdainiai district farmers Irma and Paulius Pikšriai drove to their official wedding ceremony.
About the author
V. Mockuvienė graduated with a degree in Lithuanian Language Philology from Vilnius University and has been working in journalism since the 2000s.
The winner of the UAB „Ivabaltė“ essay competition has repeatedly been awarded prizes from the Lithuanian Journalists' Union, the Association of Agricultural Companies, the Farmers' Union, and also the Representation of the European Commission in Lithuania.
UAB „Ivabaltė“ general director Irmantas Tarvydis and company representatives plan to visit the „Kėdainiai Fair“ only at the end of next week: journalist V. Mockuvienė is travelling to Strasbourg on business.
The author of the best essay will be presented with a Lithuanian woodcarver Rimantas Zinkevičius carved Užgavėnės mask.
Distributed locations
Although the essay contest initiator UAB „Ivabaltė“ did not promise to award more places, it was decided to evaluate the works of other authors as well: Aušra Malinauskienė, with her essay „A new combine harvester was introduced at Užgavėnės festivities“, won second place for the Kėdainiai district newspaper „Rinkos aikštės“; Audronė Puišienė, with her essay „A new generation combine harvester chased away the winter“, won third place for the Kretinga district newspaper „Pajūrio naujienos“, and Birutė Steponavičienė, with her article „Ivabaltė“ is already living in spring mood“, won third place for the Mažeikiai district newspaper „Būdas žemaičių“. The article „A modern grain combine harvester “Fendt„ will be deployed to the fields this year„ by Virginija Šimkūnienė, a journalist for the Kaišiadorys district newspaper “Atspindžiai„, and the essay “The new „Fendt„ combine harvester drove the frost out of the yard“ by Lina Dūdaitė, a correspondent for “Gimtojo Rokiškio", shared fourth place.
We also thank other newspapers that have tried their hand in the competition for the grand prize. Incidentally, some lacked illustrations, while others lacked their expression.
